Assessment of the electric power quality on the polish fishing boats

DOI 10.12914/MSPE-01-03-2015
Abstract: Power quality is an important problem for electrical systems. Electricity receivers should operate at nominal conditions. Each deviation from nominal values may cause the malfunction of electrical devices, decreasing their durability and per-manently damage the appliance. The importance of electric power quality for technical systems and individual electrical devices on fishing boats is fundamental. Utilization of equipment powered by electrical energy with a reduced quality resulting in economical losses and the treat to the screw's safety.
Researches of the electrical energy's quality were carried out almost any type of fishing boats. This article presents the results of researches concerning the quality of electrical energy performed on a representative type of fishing boats. It shortly evaluates the results of tests and suggests solutions to improve the power quality parameters.
Key words: electrical power quality, electrical energy system of fishing boats, quality parameters of electrical energy, passive filter

DOI 10.12914/MSPE-02-03-2015
Abstract: This article is aimed to demonstrate the effect of cutting material and geometry of inserts chip breaker for dimensional accuracy in turning. The experiment is aimed on measuring compliance with dimensional accuracy in turning of samples from steel 11 523 at a constant feed rate and depth of cut, with varying spindle speeds. Machining was performed by using a different types of replaceable inserts. The measurement results will be evaluated in terms of the impact of differ-ent geometry characteristics and changing speeds spindle.

Problem solving techniques as a part of implementation of six sigma methodology in tire production. Case study
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-03-03-2015
Abstract: Problem solving methods – are an indispensable part of the management and improvement of production. At the turn of decades, with the development of industry, specific techniques have been implemented and refined by the leaders in this field, such as Toyota, GE and Motorola. The foundation of problem solving is to find real root cause of the problem as soon as possible, its understanding and implementation of appropriate solutions that will ensure that the problem does not occur again. This paper provides an overview of methods and techniques to solve problems in the manufactur-ing plant Trelleborg Wheel Systems Sri Lanka, producing pneumatic tires for light agricultural machinery. These techniques are implemented as part of the Lean Six Sigma program.

Noise in the industry – threat for health
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-04-03-2015
Abstract: The success of certain industrial activities bring both benefits and negative effects such as pollution, occupational diseas-es, exposure of workers and residents of neighboring areas and high risk in case of technological failure.
An undesirable effect of industrial activity which may be considered a threat to workers and residents in the immediate vicinity of industrial sites is the noise. Due to the presence of technology in all activities, is a major problem considering its nature and harmful repercussions on health. Hearing loss and deafness caused by occupational exposure to noise at work are the most common occupational diseases that occur in the European Union.
The development of modern technology by increasing the power and speed of the technical equipment, contributed to diversify and increase the number of sources of noise and vibration, and thus to increase the number of people exposed.
This paper analyzes the effect of noise from industrial equipment and health risks.
Key words: health, hearing loss, noise, noise pollution, occupational noxious, safety

Computational simulation of fire development inside a trade centre
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-05-03-2015
Abstract: Real scale fire experiments involve considerable costs compared to computational mathematical modelling. This paper-work is the result of such a virtual simulation of a fire occurred in a hypothetical wholesale warehouse comprising a large number of trade stands. The analysis starts from the ignition source located inside a trade stand towards the fire expansion over three groups of compartments, by highlighting the heat transfer, both in small spaces, as well as over large distances. In order to confirm the accuracy of the simulation, the obtained values are compared to the ones from the specialized literature.

Monitoring of coal bed extraction as an effective tool for improving the production results of a mine
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-11-03-2015
Abstract: The basic source of information necessary for proper and effective management of a hard coal mine is continuous monitoring of the mining process. An increased number of machines and devices used in a mine caused a need for continuous monitoring of mining departments’ work. Monitoring of the extraction of hard coal beds is crucial for this process management, as it determines the proper course of the mining process. Hence, monitoring can be considered the most important element of the controlling process, especially in the area of mining process management in a mine. Effective monitoring and proper, quick reacting to any irregularities in this process have a significant influence on the production results of a mine.

Operation-oriented method for testing the abrasive wear of mining chain wheels in the conditions of the combined action of destructive factors
DOI 10.12914/MSPE-12-03-2015
Abstract: This paper presents a general characteristic of a rig for chain wheel testing in the conditions reproducing the actual op-erating conditions of conveyor elements in the rolling and sliding motion. This test rig allows performing wear tests in the presence of an abrasive material, corrosive factors and additional dynamic excitations in the form of steel beaters. The paper also describes a methodology of abrasive wear tests of chain wheels that allows determining the value of the linear wear of chain wheels and presents the test results for the materials typical of armoured face conveyors.
